We are seeking a Research Fellow (Level A) in the area of experimental condensed matter physics and surface science to study the electronic properties of 2D twisted heterostructures of atomically thin semiconductors (e.g. MoS2, WS2), a relatively unexplored but promising new area of 2D heterostructure science. The successful candidate will work as part of a larger team which is tasked with characterising the electronic structure of twisted semiconductor heterostructures using low-temperature scanning tunnelling microscopy and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy.
Based in Melbourne, the fellow will be working with Prof Michael Fuhrer and Dr Mark Edmonds at Monash. What we are looking for:
- PhD in experimental condensed matter physics, or a closely related field
- Experience in fabrication of van der Waals heterostructures of 2D materials
- Experience with electrical measurements at low temperature and high magnetic field are highly desirable
