Maria was a postdoctoral researcher with FLEET AI Michelle Spencer at RMIT University. She used computational methods to study new materials that have applications in future low energy electronic devices. Her work focused on using the density-functional theory to determine the structural, electronic and optical properties of various nanomaterials.
Within FLEET, she investigated new two-dimensional multiferroic materials that are formed either from monolayers or van der Waals (vdW) bilayer materials. This work was within the FLEET’s Enabling technology A theme, atomically-thin materials.
