Oliver Sandberg’s PhD with Prof. Matthew Davis and Dr Matt Reeves at the University of Queensland studied driven-dissipative superfluids, building on the work undertaken in his honours year. Oliver’s research in FLEET’s Research theme 3, used Floquet theory to find solutions to Hamiltonians which are periodic in time. In linear systems, these solutions are easy to find via diagonalisation but have only recently begun to be studied for nonlinear systems such as Bose-Einstein condensates. He also investigated nonequilibrium superfluidity in exciton-polariton condensates.
