FLEET PI Prof William Phillips is one of the pioneers in the field of ultracold atoms. His research has developed the field of laser cooling and trapping of neutral atoms, ultracold collisions of atoms, atoms in optical lattices as condensed matter analogs, matterwave optics, non-linear dynamics with atoms, superfluidity of atomic gases, synthetic magnet fields for neutral atoms and atomtronics.
