Three FLEET PhD students this month featured on popular radio science show Einstein a go-go, on the show’s regular “20 PhDs in 20 minutes” segment.
In this format, student and host each get a minute, covering the student’s entire project in just two minutes combined. (Perfect practice for the famous ‘elevator pitch’.)
The three FLEET presenters were Alex Nguyen (Monash), Matt Gebert (Monash) and Abigail Goff (RMIT).

12:50 Matt Gebert nicely describes the function of topological materials (“like a block of chocolate”) and their potential for resistanceless devices to address the issue of unsustainable computing-energy use
21:51 Abigail Goff explains the application of liquid-metal gallium to easily grow ultra-thin (single atom layer) oxides for energy-efficient beyond-CMOS electronics
36:45 Alex Nguyen describes his search for amorphous, ‘disordered’ materials, and the benefits of this over more traditional, ordered materials.
