AI Dr David Cortie is a member of both the University of Wollongong and Industry Partner ANSTO. He obtained his PhD in 2013 from UOW working on neutron scattering from ultra-thin films using polarized neutron reflectometry. He completed post-doctoral work at the University of British Columbia, Canada whilst acting a joint Max-Planck/UBC fellow.
Working with CI Xiaolin Wang on the magnetic topological insulators, within FLEET, he performs density functional theory calculations, and validate these using complementary neutron scattering experiments, with the goal of discovering new candidate topological Dirac semimetals in Research Theme 1.
