Since completing her PhD with FLEET in 2020, Dr Hareem Khan continues her research career as a CERC Postdoctoral Fellow at CSIRO Energy, looking into developing better materials for encapsulating electronic devices to protect them from external contaminants such as moisture.
Hareem Khan was a PhD student at RMIT University, working with Kourosh Kalantar-Zadeh, Torben Daeneke and JianZhen Ou on the synthesis of atomically-thin materials (IV monochalcogenides) and study of their electronic properties (eg, piezoelectric tendencies) using techniques such as piezoresponse force microscopy (PFM). Potential applications of atomically-thin piezoelectric materials include nano-size sensors, piezotronics, nano-generators and energy-harvesting devices, thus working towards future portable, low-cost electronic devices within FLEET’s Research theme 1 and Enabling technology B nano-device fabrication.
