CI Prof Kristian Helmerson has performed groundbreaking experiments in the fields of ultracold collisions of atoms, matterwave optics, nonlinear dynamics with atoms, superfluidity of atomic gases and atomtronics; he was instrumental in establishing the field of nonlinear atom optics. He leads the Research Theme 3 where the team utilises ultracold atoms in an optical lattice as a model system to investigate (i) dissipation and equilibration in driven Floquet systems and (ii) the creation of topological states in multi-dimensional extensions of the kicked quantum rotor.
Kris is an LGBTIQ Ally.
