PI Prof Ferenc Krausz, as Director of the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics (MPQ), contributes to FLEET’s Research Theme 3 in collaboration with AI Matthew Weidman (MPQ) and CI Agustin Schiffrin (Monash). Prof Krausz uses ultrashort waveform-controlled laser pulses to trigger, probe and control transient topological phases of materials, in real-time and with attosecond time resolution. Prof Krausz’s contributions to physics have been recognised in the 2023 Nobel Prize in Physics, as well as the 2022 Wolf Prize for Physics.
